Dan Ellis
This body of work and the pieces that I will continue to make our distillations of deeply personal pain anguish and darkness. By sharing them, I believe I am doing a little beyond simply attempting to show the suffering that is mine. It is my believe that by sharing our experiences we create awareness and perhaps a dialogue of the existence of mental illness and substance abuse among both the people we know and love and those we’ve never met. To show I am here, that we are here, and have a voice; to show those who suffer that they are not alone. Because I am not the only person with such thoughts and emotions, the visual narratives my pieces tell will naturally reflect to some degree those shared an untold by others. It is my believe that by sharing our experiences we create awareness and perhaps a dialogue of the existence of mental illness and substance abuse among both the people we know and love and those we’ve never met. To show I am here, that we are here, and have a voice; to show those who suffer that they are not alone. That, I believe Space is the most important thing I can do.
